Why Become a Member?
The best reason to join is because this is something you want to do. Adding your voice to ours to make a strong and powerful voice for change. Joining in our community because this is where you feel … not necesarily comfortable … but respected, valued. A place where you can contribute as well as learn.
The second best reason to join is because you should. Change is coming slowly. Becoming a member of the community of NSHP may be your first active step to helping speed along a more open, more inclusive physics community.
Hispanic Americans represents 18% of the US population
Outside of becoming a member of our community the benefits of membership are small but valuable. You will receive issues of the The Hispanic Physicist automatically. This is our electronic newsletter, edited and published by our Communication Officer. The newsletter contains announcements and issues of concern to the membership. And as a member of NSHP you will be able to attend any of our Joint Meetings with affiliated societies at the NSHP rate, which is substantially cheaper than the non-member rate. Student members may apply for travel funds to attend our meetings.

SPS/NSHP Program for Undergraduates
The Society of Physics Students and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists have joined to offer a program that allows undergraduates the opportunity to join both societies for one low price. The program gives students the full benefits of both NSHP and SPS. As members of NSHP, students may attend meetings at a reduced price, receiving the Hispanic Physicist, and apply for travel funding. As members of the SPS, students receive Physics Today and the SPS Observer, have online access to The Journal of Undergraduate Research in Physics, be eligible for SPS scholarships, internships, research & travel grants, fellowships and other awards; and be able to access the Career Placement Service of the American Institute of Physics. In addition, undergraduate members of the SPS may join one of the ten AIP societies (AAPT, APS, AAS, AGU, …) at no cost for a year. The 2024 rate for the SPS/NSHP joint membership is $24. After registering for NSHP, student members may complete the SPS/NSHP Joint Membership form on the Members Only page.
